Richard M. Hall

Richard M. Hall is the senior partner at Hall Scott PC. After graduating from Indiana University (Bloomington campus) in 1977 with a business degree (major: accounting), Richard attended Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, graduating cum laude in December 1980. Thereafter, Richard joined a major law firm in Indianapolis, beginning his training as an estate planning and business transactions attorney. Richard moved his law practice to the north side of Indianapolis in 1984.

In addition to his extensive estate planning and administration practice, Richard has been involved in approximately 250 transactions involving the sale or purchase of a business or investment property. Richard is a certified public accountant (inactive status). His accounting education has proven to be invaluable when counseling clients and businesses regarding transaction and tax matters.

Richard has served as a panelist at numerous continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (ICLEF) and other organizations. Richard served as technical editor on the publication entitled Estate Planning for Dummies (Wiley Publishing, 2003). Law & Politics has named Mr. Hall as a Super Lawyer®. Mr. Hall has also been named to the prestigious bar registry of pre-eminent lawyers as a result of a confidential peer-review process conducted by Martindale-Hubbell.

Richard serves as co-counsel in estate and trust litigation matters.

Richard is married. Richard and his wife, Lisa, share three adult children and live in Brown County, Indiana.

 

Shawn M. Scott

Shawn M. Scott concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, business law and transactions, and business succession planning. She is licensed to practice law in both Indiana and Illinois. After graduating from Hanover College (B.A., Political Science 2000), she attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois (J.D., LL.M. Intellectual Property 2004). Shawn frequently presents at legal seminars on the topics of estate and trust administration and estate planning. Shawn serves on the boards of the Estate Planning Council of Indianapolis, the Probate, Trust and Real Property Section of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association Estate Planning and Administration Section, the Indiana Trust and Estate Specialty Certification Board and the Indianapolis Bar Foundation. She is also a member of the Planned Giving Council at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Shawn has been designated as an Indiana Rising Star and a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and the publishers of Indianapolis Monthly. Shawn is also a graduate of the Indianapolis Bar Association Bar Leader Series Class XI. She received her certification as a Board Certified Indiana Trust and Estate Lawyer in 2017 from the Indiana State Bar Association Trust & Estate Specialty Board.

Outside the office, Shawn is a hot yoga instructor and practitioner.  She and her husband, Sean, live in Indianapolis with their three children.

Vicki E. Kersey

Vicki E. Kersey is a paralegal with Hall Scott PC. She is also the firm’s office manager, having worked with Mr. Hall since 1987.

Vicki married her husband, Chris, in 1996. They live in Fishers with their six rescue animals (5 dogs and 1 cat).

Vicki’s hobbies include playing guitar, scouring antique stores for old vinyl records and attempting to train the dogs. She is a huge fan of IndyCar and 70’s rock (especially Queen and Aerosmith) and is an avid “Doctor Who” fan.

Dory A. Brooker

Dory Ann Brooker is a paralegal and legal assistant.  She has worked with Hall Scott PC since March 1997.

Before joining Hall Scott PC, Dory worked as a legal assistant and office manager at a litigation firm in Carmel, Indiana.  She graduated in the top 25 of her class from Carmel High School in 1990 and obtained a Paralegal Certificate from IUPUI in 1993.

Dory has been married to her husband, Dan, since 1992 and they have a teenage son, Garrett. Dory and her family live in Carmel, Indiana, along with their dog, Ollie. She enjoys traveling, gardening and volunteer work.

Gregory L. Padgett

Principal, Padgett Law

Greg Padgett is licensed to practice law in Indiana. After graduating from DePauw University summa cum laude in 1981, Mr. Padgett attended Northwestern University School of Law, graduating in the top third of his class in 1984. Mr. Padgett then joined the Kirkland & Ellis firm in Chicago, beginning his training as a trial lawyer in complex commercial litigation, including class-action antitrust and trade regulation matters, employment litigation and other business matters. Mr. Padgett also gained valuable experience in the federal courts, arguing and winning his first appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit at age 26.

Mr. Padgett returned home to central Indiana in 1988, joining Baker & Daniels and beginning his work in estate and trust litigation. In addition to gaining first-chair experience on several cases at trial, Mr. Padgett briefed, argued and won two more federal appeals and one Indiana state court appeal prior to joining Johnson, Hall and Lawhead in 1992.

As a partner in that firm, Mr. Padgett learned a great deal about the intricacies of wills, trusts and estate administration from some of the best trust, estate and tax counsel in the Indianapolis area. Mr. Padgett has handled virtually all forms of trust and estate litigation matters, including will contests, trust contests, claims in estates, accountings and objections, determinations of heirship, complex trust disputes and contested guardianships.

Greg Padgett has represented clients in the courtrooms of more than 45 of the 92 counties of Indiana. Mr. Padgett was first selected to be profiled in “Who’s Who in American Law” in 1995. After just six years of practice in Indiana, he was named to the prestigious Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers, based on the confidential peer-review process conducted by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Padgett is a frequent chair, contributor and lecturer at continuing legal education seminars on estate, inheritance and trust litigation topics. He was named one of the “Outstanding Lawyers of America” in 2003 and has been consistently recognized as an Indiana “Super Lawyer” since 2012.

Mr. Padgett founded Padgett Law in March of 2004, with the idea of creating an Indiana law firm focused exclusively on estate and trust litigation.

Mr. Padgett married Ruth Anne Dorworth in 1982. They have three children and reside in Indianapolis.

Claire L. Strayer

Claire Strayer began working in the legal field as a legal secretary in 1981. A graduate of Ball State University, she has worked for a variety of law firms, from attorneys with solo practices to a nationally ranked Los Angeles law firm with international offices.

She married her husband, Tom, in 1992, and they reside in McCordsville, Indiana, with their two sons.

In her free time, Claire enjoys reading, sewing, and spending time with friends and family. She and her family are active members of Outlook Christian Church in McCordsville.
